Creative Commons Certificate Fall Course

October 1, 2018 @ 9:00 am - December 7, 2018 @ 10:59 pm

This course is open to everyone, from university students and entry-level professionals to experts in the fields of Library Science and Education (more fields forthcoming). Whether you take the 10-week online course, or enroll in a week-long, bootcamp (available in 2019), the CC Certificate provides an in depth study of Creative Commons licenses–helping you become an expert in open licensing and the Commons.

With a CC Certificate, you will be able to advise your institution on creating and engaging with openly licensed works that best suit your institution’s needs; learn how to legally adapt and innovate on existing openly licensed materials–keeping your institution’s knowledge base relevant and up to date. You will learn how to best support learners accessing a wider array of open knowledge resources. Finally, you will be equipped to meet open licensing requirements increasingly present in government and foundation grants.

Lessons in this course target copyright law, CC legal tools, values and practices. Learners have multiple opportunities to actively create and engage with CC-licensed works. Through a combination of readings, quizzes, and practical exercises, the course is designed to engage learners and support local needs.
